“Rachel has a bright, cheery presence that instantly made me feel comfortable. She has so much knowledge about nutrition and how our bodies work, and shares it in a way that’s easy to understand and incorporate into my life. Rachel was a pro at coming up with ideas and alternatives if anything ever didn’t fit quite right into my life, and she always made me feel accepted and supported. She was a big part of my journey to get an IBD diagnosis, and then helped me navigate symptoms and food choices from there. I recommend Rachel to anyone who could use some guidance and support in learning more about nutrition, taking care of their bodies, and meeting their nutrition goals and needs.”

I eat my feelings. Despite a year of Ozempic/Mounjaro/Trulicity, I lost no weight (although my A1C did drop). I have tried so many different diets and nutritionist/weight loss coaches, all to no avail. I felt stuck. While I was browsing the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation's website I found a recommendation for Rachel Dyckman, a nutritionist who specializes in patients with these challenges.
I felt comfortable from our very first session. She listened carefully to my unique situation and made me feel heard. She talked about various ideas and openly discussed strategies for addressing my particular challenges. Instead of dreading the next appointment with my nutritionist, I looked forward to our sessions because I was made to feel accepted without judgment, even when I occasionally veered from the plan we had made. She researched food products for me and even made a special visit to a local Kosher store to find options that would adhere to my beliefs.
Her approach is unique because it is not about diet or exercise alone. Rachel approaches the person as a whole, including emotionally and physically. Mindfulness is an important component. Further, understanding the gut microbiome is key to knowing why our bodies act the way they do. Weight management is only a small part of her focus. Her upbeat, continuous "cheerleader" like persona makes a significant impact on healing the entire person, beyond a number on the scale. Her goal is to educate and support rather than to put you on a financial hamster wheel . Your success is her success. She truly cares, and I feel privileged to be a client. I give Rachel Dyckman my unreserved and strongest recommendation to anyone ready to make a serious change in their health, mood, and life.

“In recent years I gained a significant amount of weight and was unsuccessful in losing it on my own. I first consulted Rachel 8 weeks prior to a wedding that I planned to attend with the hopes of losing about 8-10 lbs. From the initial consult, she changed the way I approached each meal and backed up her plan with scientific data (which as a physician, I truly appreciated). We kept a food diary together and she found weaknesses in my current diet that allowed me to reduce my caloric intake without feeling hungry or sacrificing foods that I liked. She shared a wealth of information about specific foods and recommendations for brands that she made both accessible and user-friendly. She was encouraging and non-judgmental. During our sessions, she was always positive about the changes I had made and reassuring if I felt discouraged. Every session had new ideas and recommendations for food substitutions or meal plans and improved my overall health. She was always available to offer advice, reviewing restaurant menus or grocery store items when I had a question. Under her guidance, I lost just over 1 lb a week and by the wedding, had lost 11 lbs! It has now been 8 months since that initial consult and the extra weight has stayed off, despite resuming work-related travel and a 2-week vacation! I have recommended Rachel to family and friends who have experienced similar success. I would recommend Rachel to anyone interested in understanding nutrition in a way that changes the way you think about what you eat and in doing so, helps you maintain a healthier lifestyle.”

“My sessions with Rachel were *exactly* what I was looking for. I have Crohn’s disease, so my needs are unique, but I believe that anyone who is interested in understanding nutrition could benefit from her work. She helped me to understand how different foods work together, and gave me very manageable suggestions that were easy to incorporate into my routine.“

“After suffering from IBS and SIBO for a very long time, I was longing to finding a more holistic treatment for my conditions. I never knew what to eat or prepare that would ease my painful symptoms. It seemed everything I ate made me sick. I was so grateful when my gastroenterologist recommended that I contact Rachel Dyckman, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Rachel has thoroughly enlightened me with nutritional information, educational and shopping tips, meal planning guidance, healthy choices, and helped me to fall in love with food again! She put me on the path of a healthy and nourishing wellness journey that I could have never anticipated or done on my own. Selecting the right things to eat is now such a joy rather than a dreaded chore. For the first time in my life, I feel in nutritional control and so much wiser thanks to Rachel. My symptoms have improved tremendously. Rachel was always quick to respond to my many questions and so easy to talk to about my gastrointestinal symptoms. I am so grateful to have her on my wellness team! Thank you, Rachel, for everything!”

“I worked with Rachel when I was newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes during the third trimester of my second pregnancy. My work with Rachel was incredibly helpful and exceeded all of my expectations. She was professional, timely, and knowledgeable. Her discussion with me and the material she provided covered all that was needed and she tailored it to my particular questions and concerns. Tailoring it especially helped me to realize the ways I could change my diet for the better, starting right away and into the future. Throughout our discussion, Rachel was empathetic, supportive, and kind, which meant so much to me as this was a difficult time for me to receive this diagnosis. I felt I could speak openly with Rachel and she would understand, and have ideas and solutions to implement. I would highly recommend working with Rachel.”

“I started working with Rachel when my GI tract made eating an ordeal. I couldn't find things to eat that didn't hurt my stomach and started unintentionally losing weight. I felt full for much of the day and was frequently bloated. My GI doctor was unable to offer any dietary suggestions while she and I worked to figure out what was wrong. Rachel gave me many concrete suggestions on how to incorporate high quality and nutritious foods that would minimize all of my ongoing GI symptoms. I found this especially helpful since I follow a plant based whole food diet. She gave me optimism that things would get better (and they did!). She was available to answer my many questions and easily helped revise my diet plan over the months we worked together. Most recently we met after I was diagnosed with osteoporosis- and I now feel even more confident knowing how to deal with the challenges of eating (and enjoying) the best foods for bone health. I am so grateful for connecting with Rachel!”

“Working with Rachel has honestly been a life-changing experience. She worked with me to help me achieve GI symptom control without following a strict elimination diet, after I had previously been told that was the only way to get symptom relief. My bloating, stomach pain, and motility issues have significantly decreased since working with Rachel and my quality of life is so much better now. Rachel is kind, caring, and extremely knowledgeable. She provided me with the tools I need to navigate on my own. I cannot recommend her enough!”
