Go-To Green Smoothie
Smoothies are a wonderful way to get multiple varieties of fruit and vegetables into your day, to obtain a wide array of nutrients as well as to encourage the growth of beneficial gut microbes. In fact, research demonstrate that consuming >30 varieties of plants per week leads to a healthier and more diverse gut microbiome. Incorporating a breakfast smoothie is an easy and delicious way to meet your weekly quota. Additionally, smoothies provide a healthy dose of hydration, which is especially important in the morning, as sleep tends to dehydrate us.
This recipe is one of my go-to’s that I come back to over and over again, and it can easily be modified based on the ingredients you have in your kitchen. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 cup baby kale
1/3 cup frozen riced cauliflower
1/2 of a medium-sized banana, sliced and frozen
1/2 scoop Nuzest Clean Lean Protein powder in Rich Chocolate flavor
1 Tbsp cacao powder
1 Tbsp natural peanut butter
Dash of cinnamon
Enough unsweetened almond milk (or other unsweetened milk of choice) to blend
Blend, add a topping (optional), and enjoy!
(I used a handful of Three Wishes Cinnamon Cereal as my topping for some crunch, but you can also add cacao nibs, crushed nuts/seeds, granola, or another cereal you prefer)
