4-Ingredient Applesauce Dark Chocolate Mousse Pie (Vegan & GF)

This simple recipe is both refreshing and decadent, plus it’s packed with fiber and antioxidants. It contains only two main ingredients (applesauce and dark chocolate) - the rest are just a bonus, although I highly recommend them to take this sweet treat to the next level. This low-sugar dessert is perfect for any dark chocolate lover!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chunks/chips (I used U Chocolate 85% cacao “Wild” dark chocolate bars, broken into small chunks )

  • 1/2 tsp freeze dried espresso powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • Optional: cacao powder & cinnamon for topping

Directions:

  1. Line a baking dish or springform pan with parchment paper.

  2. Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler OR spray a microwave-safe bowl with olive oil spray, then add the chocolate and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between each interval until fully melted and smooth.

  3. Stir in the freeze dried espresso powder and pinch of salt to the melted dark chocolate, mixing until thoroughly combined.

  4. Add the applesauce, mixing until thoroughly combined.

  5. Transfer the mixture to the lined baking dish or pan and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight to harden. If it is still mushy, pop in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until solidified.
